The first round Open Finals of the Snaffle Bit Futurity concluded late Friday evening as Robbie Boyce, of Jackson, Texas, and Rob Leach, of Hanford, California, took home the Intermediate and Limited Open Championships, respectively.
… Boyce piloted Playin Shineylynx, by Playin Stylish and out of Lynx Lil Shiner, to a composite score of 648. The Intermediate Open win garnered Boyce $20,520, a Bob’s Custom Saddle, and a Skyline Gold & Silversmith buckle, both sponsored by San Juan Ranch, a Sensorflex pad from Classic Equine, a monogrammed down vest from Bloomer Trailers, a custom hat from Shorty’s Caboy Hattery, and Platinum Performance. Playin Shineylynx is owned by Lyle Lovett, who unfortunately missed the finals because of professional obligations. According to Boyce, the win was bittersweet. “This horse is from the first foal crop that Lyle bred and raised,” he explained. “It was a real accomplishment to win, but I’m sorry Lyle missed it. Luckily, he’ll be back for the finals on Sunday.”
